Before 1996:
Several accessibility guidelines on the Web of varying quality. Confusion on which one to believe.
End 1996:
TRACE R & D Center produces Unified Guidelines that include HTML techniques, browser information, etc.
Spring 1997:
WAI begins its mission. Deliverables include three guidelines.
Fall 1997:
Work truly begins for Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (then called Page Author Guidelines)
